Henry County VBS offers fun way to learn

Henry County classes have been dismissed but vacation Bible school is in, inviting families to explore their faith in a friendly way.

Food, fellowship, music, storytelling, crafts and recreation will fill three hours each morning or night.

This week and next, the VBS program Maker Fun Factory is helping children become inventors and discover their links to the Creator.

Southern Crescent Baptist Church in McDonough is holding its session through June 14 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

VBS program Galactic Starveyors is another choice presented by Bethany Baptist Church in McDonough through June 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. June 16 at 6 p.m. is Family Night.

Salem Baptist Church in McDonough welcomes rising kindergartners through rising sixth-graders to its Galactic Starveyors session June 20 to 23 from 9 a.m. to noon daily.

The Rev. Teresa Wasdin, youth minister, said children will learn about God while looking to the skies.

“We will start with the creation and end with the resurrection of Jesus,” she said.

McDonough houses of worship The Ole Country Church, McDonough Presbyterian Church and Wesley Way United Methodist Church pick up the program June 26 through June 30.

“Everyone that attends will enjoy a fun week of building relationships with God and others,” Wesley Way Director of Children and Recreation Ministries Tabitha Hunsucker said.

She said attendees, aka Heroes, will sport a different color every day, starting with red on Monday and then yellow, green, orange and blue.

July 4th week is quiet, then VBS returns.

Community Bible Church in Stockbridge will appeal to children’s creativity with the program Gadgets & Gizmos July 10 to 14 at 8 a.m.

“Throughout the week, we will be exploring the idea that God not only made each of us in his image, but also created us each uniquely,” Children’s Ministry Director Erica Chavous said. “Through fun crafts, games and music, we’ll see how his incredible power in our lives can make a difference for others.”
